This way, your dog won’t feel lonely at the hotel while you’re exploring the city! Most parks have separate areas for large and small dogs and feature water fountains and shaded areas. 1. Silverlake Dog Park
Silverlake Dog Park is a fenced area where your dog can play and run off-leash. It’s divided into two spaces – one for large breeds and the other for smaller ones. Please consider that the park mainly consists of sand, not grass, so you might need to clean up your puppy after a good run and playing routine! There are some picnic tables where you can have lunch and give your puppy some tasty treats! There’s no need to carry water bottles, as there’s plenty of water available on site. Make sure you don’t schedule your visit on Wednesdays from 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. because the park is closed for maintenance.
2. Hermon Park in the Arroyo Seco Dog Park
Hermon Park in the Arroyo Seco Dog Park is located in the northeast part of Los Angeles, near the historic Arroyo Seco. There are two enclosed areas – one for larger breeds and the other for tiny, old, or disabled pups. The park is off-leash, so your pup will enjoy a free walk around the area. The park offers shaded benches, dog water dispensers, and some balls your pet can play with. However, we recommend bringing along some of your pal’s favorite toys and a few snacks in case you both want to take a break.
3. Griffith Park Dog Park
Griffith Park Dog Park can be found at the north end of the John Ferraro Soccer Field, on North Zoo Drive. It features two separate areas for huge and smaller dog breeds, so there’s enough space for all the dogs to run around and have fun! However, please note that dogs are only permitted off-leash and must be older than four months. We recommend checking all the rules to avoid any fines. People say it’s not usually very crowded, so if you’re looking for a quiet evening out with your furry friend, Griffith Park Dog Park could be it! Don’t forget that it’s closed on Tuesdays (6 AM-10 PM) for maintenance.
4. Runyon Canyon Dog Park
Your pup will delight in this 160-acre park! Just imagine how much space your pal has to run around and have the best time of his life! Ninety acres of Runyon Canyon Dog Park are off-leash and feature multiple hiking trails. Depending on how much exercise you’re up to, you can choose the paved path or the stairs. You’ll find lots of water fountains and benches along the way. Just don’t forget to bring some yummy snacks for you and your pup. It’s usually crowded because Runyon Canyon Dog Park is pretty popular among dog owners. We recommend arriving earlier, somewhere around 7 a.m.–8 a.m., to be able to find a parking spot.
5. Laurel Canyon Dog Park
Take your puppy to Laurel Canyon Dog Park for a fantastic off-leash evening out! If you have a small, timid breed, don’t worry! There’s a separate area for them, where your pup may find another shy pup to socialize with. If you somehow forget to bring waste bags, you’ll be able to use the scoopers that can be found besides trash cans. If you visit it on a hot summer day, you’ll enjoy the shaded areas and the benches. Just sit back and enjoy the company of your best friend!
6. Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park
Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park might just become your pup’s favorite! And we’re sure you’ll come back too, as it has three areas: large dogs, small dogs, and timid dogs. Perfect, isn’t it? Timid dogs now have a space for themselves where they can befriend each other and start socializing! You should consider that the park doesn’t have too many grass areas, so your dog will probably get a bit dirty while running around with its furry friends. But it’s not usually too crowded, so it may not be a big problem. There are many shaded areas where you can take a break and snack with your best pal!
7. Bluff Creek Dog Park
Bluff Creek Dog Park is an excellent destination for you and your furry pal! The park is equipped with drinking and splashing water fountains, so you don’t have to carry water bottles with you—no need to worry about waste bags, either, as you’ll find some on site. The park provides shady areas where you and your pup can rest after playing frisbee or anything else your pup is a fan of!
